Alicia Vonderharr met Jonathan Hatch in the fall of 2003 during Creative Nonfiction Writing--her first class at Bemidji State University and one that took place at 8 a.m. How does she remember this? Because one never forgets an 8 a.m. class nor does one forget those who were suckers enough to sign up for it, too.
Years later, she holds a BFA in Creative and Professional Writing from BSU and an MA in Written Communication, emphasis in Professional Writing, from Eastern Michigan University. Her specialty is children's nonfiction publishing and user-centered design but much of her experience is in scholarly publishing.
Alicia is the Journals Production Editor for Wayne State University Press in Detroit, Michigan. She happily manages the production of six scholarly journals for the Press and enjoys working in one of the oldest and "funnest" cultural districts in the United States--Midtown Detroit. Alicia lives with her scientist husband in a small suburb north of Detroit, and in her spare time, Alicia enjoys traveling, spending time at the Detroit Institute of the Arts, reading young adult literature ("because anything can happen in YA lit"), and attempting to spread the word about Detroit--it really is a very cool city.
