Saint Paul Media

Nils Hoyum

Nils Hoyum attended Bemidji State University where he studied everything from art history to zoology. He also spent a fair amount of time in the theater department. While attending university, he worked as a cook at Concordia Language Villages, which is where Nils spent 11 years working with many talented chefs, cooks, and bakers from all over the world.

Never really finding a major he was passionate about, he left university to pursue a career in the kitchen. Nils continued to work in kitchens for the next three years, until he traveled to Argentina and realized he wanted more for himself. Within 4 months, he moved away from Bemidji to find a place to start over. Eventually, Nils found his way to St. Paul where he lives now.

Nils is passionate about great food, hoppy beer, red wine, music, film, and cooking. His plan for the future involves continuing to work for Saint Paul Media while he eats his way across the planet. One of his earliest memories is Garrison Keillor's voice on Minnesota Public Radio.
