Saint Paul Media

Amber Luck Ronning

What do you get when you swirl a gene pool that produced generations of eminent doctors with one that flows directly from Norwegian farmers and the British working class? Amber Luck Ronning: a hardworking, analytical, detail-obsessed, empathetic, sailor-mouthed daydreamer who can hold her whiskey.

Growing up as a quiet kid in Minnesota, Amber always dreamed of making a living as a writer. But, ever pragmatic, she didn't really expect that to pan out, so she earned a master's degree in English from Bemidji State University, in preparation for becoming a college instructor. Imagine, then, how extremely lucky she now feels to be able to write full time for Saint Paul Media. She hopes (but, of course, doesn't really expect) to someday find equal success as an author of fiction.

In spite of the inordinate amount of time she gives to mostly indoor pursuits like reading, writing, and watching quality television, Amber has a passion for the outdoors. She loves to hike, bike, camp, cross-country ski, stargaze, and garden, and eventually hopes to have a home in the country -- but not too far from the close friends, good restaurants, and artistic culture of the city. She currently lives in Saint Paul with her husband, Eric D. Ronning, and their much-loved pets: two cats, Nina and Piper, and an English Bulldog named Gladys.
